William Ellis: Identity of seven-year-old boy hit and killed by car in Balranald, NSW revealed

The identity of a young boy struck and killed by a car in his hometown of Balranald, NSW has been revealed, as his family tearfully remember his “radiating joy” and “kind-hearted soul”.

William Ellis, 7 was hit by a car on Market St near the border of NSW and Victoria about 3.15pm on Wednesday.

He was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital, but died a short time later.

The driver, a 43-year-old man, was taken to the same hospital for mandatory testing.

William’s death has left the small Riverina community with a little over 2000 residents reeling.

The seven-year-old is being remembered as an “extraordinary boy, radiating joy with his kind-hearted soul”.

The tragedy is compounded for his mother Kylie, who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.

Ms Reid told The Daily Telegraph, her son would always put his arms around her, telling her he loved her, through sickness and health.

Over $44,000 has been raised for the family to help with Kylie’s medical challenges and funeral expenses.

William is survived by his parents Kylie and Shaun and five sisters, Natalya, Emmy, Porschea, Charley, and Lola.
