Delta Goodrem Abandons Trademark Sound for New "Think About You" Single

Australian singer-songwriter Delta Goodrem has racked up numerous adult contemporary number-one hits in her home country – “In This Life” remains a pop/rock gem – however, the artist has boldly chosen to abandon her trademark sound and style for a more risqué approach on her latest single release.

Following a two-year hiatus, the new “Think About You” is an uptempo, slightly raunchy pop tune claiming Goodrem only has one thing on her mind when staring into the eyes of a potential suitor. The change in subject matter and production will certainly surprise fans, but also please as she gears up for the release of a sixth studio album.

“Think About You”, co-written by the team behind “Slow Hands” by Niall Horan, uses Goodrem’s impeccable vocal prowess to its utmost advantage. Channeling Mariah Carey at times, the artist is straightforward and unapologetic with her sexual desires and advances as a slinky, infectious beat encompasses her sultry delivery. The new track exudes confidence, mixed with a dose of narcissism and agonizing infatuation.

“I’m just gonna say it and I don’t know how you’ll take it, I think about you naked when I’m looking at you, my imagination got me losing concentration, I think about you naked when I’m looking at you,” she sings before the bridge rolls around, eventually becoming the highlight of the dance-ready single.

Whether from across the bar, restaurant or her own bedroom, “Think About You” is compelling proof that Goodrem always gets what she wants. The song is a mature release, complete with salacious songwriting and an addictive beat drop.

What are your thoughts? Will Goodrem’s bold artistic move result in her tenth number one?
